New Life Prenatal Classes

Effie's Prenatal class was not only very informative, but engaging and inclusive. We went into the class with an open mind, ready to learn, and walked away confident and prepared for the birth of our baby. I would recommend her class for new parents, as well as parents who want a refresher in the process. Thank you, Effie!

Effie came to our home and provided us with a very intimate and informative class! As new parents, we are very thankful for all the detail she provided and the resources she left us with. She is extremely knowledgable and was able to answer all of the questions we had. Would recommend her class for all first time parents!  

Prenatal class with Effie was amazing! I hesitated at first about having a prenatal class; assuming that we received a lot of knowledge from our parents and internet. I was very WRONG about that! Effie covered everything that we need to know from the labour, childcare, physical and emotional support for each other in the family. No matter if it's your first child or additional siblings, it's always wonderful to refresh those knowledge and keep up to date with this prenatal class. Highly recommended!

My husband and I took a group class with Effie this week as we are entering our third trimester. Effie is extremely knowledgable and patient to answer all our questions. She even took us on a tour of the hospital after our lesson. We definitely feel a bit more confident now as we are expecting our first child.

My husband and I waited until the last minute before we decided we needed some pre-natal  and birthing advice!  I am a bit suggestable, so I was cautious about putting myself in a group situation where I might hear other people's horror stories. We hired Effie to come to our home and give us a the low-down. We couldn't have been happier. She was very friendly and  knowledgable and gave us the little boost of confidience we needed!

I took a private prenatal class with Effie June 30. 2018.  The class was fantastic! I had a bad birth experince perviously and was very emotional. Effie was sensitive to my feelings, addressed all my concerns and gave options on how to make this current birth a better experience!  Effie spent as much time as I needed and ensured I was comfortable during the session. I highly recommend Effie to family and friends! My sister will be taking her class this winter!  

Having your first bundle of joy is more than like buying your first home, and what better way to prepare yourself than to have someone who knows the business very well to educate you.

Effie did a great job in giving us the key information and skills needed for first time parents like us. Straight to the point, all questions answered, complete with audio/visual aids and demo, important tips, interactive workshops, and with actual hospital tour. It was very worthwhile to spend a couple days in her class on top of your busy schedule prior to parenthood.

She demonstrates years of experience as an instructor and as a mother herself. I would strongly recommend to take her class to get yourself ready and prepared in your first step to parenthood.

Thank you for coming to our house and being everything we had hoped for and more. You were kind, honest, polite, gentle and answered all our endless questions and wonderings. You never made either of us feel embarrassed or silly for asking anything. In fact, you were very quick to put us at ease.

Thank you so much for guiding us on our journey to parenthood! Irina and I felt so much more prepared after our in-home session with you and we truly believe that our birth story was enhanced with the information and confidence we gained through your class. We highly recommend that anyone who wants to be as prepared as possible should take Effie's course and take in all the information you can! Beyond the birth process, we feel the information we received has helped us to be calmer parents (even when baby Madalina doesn't feel like being too calm!). Effie was a great instructor, and the pre-natal classes definitely helped prepare us for when we brought our newborn home. I highly recommend these classes for anyone either having their first child, or needing a refresher for coming home with a second child - as you can't rely on the hospital to show/explain everything to you in the overwhelming time you're there. Effie was full of first hand experience and knowledge in what to generally expect once at the hospital and coming home with a newborn. She was easy to talk to a helpful with any personal questions we had about our specific experience. Thank you so much Effie! I walked into her class not even have held a newborn before, and felt more confident once my baby came into the world having taken these classes. 

Effie, we just wanted to say thank you for a great prenatal education experience. You were able to answer all of our questions, plus everything we didn't think of. We walked away feeling a lot more prepared than we did going in. We would recommend you to all our friends and family!!!

Just wanted to say thank you for doing our prenatal class back in February. I can't say that I remembered everything you said while I was actually in labour lol, but your advice about everything else has really helped out! Labour was not what I expected- but there's really no way to know how it's going to be until you actually get there. I ended up having back labour, and my husband was able to help me by pushing on my hips the way you showed us.

 

Everything's been going well since we brought him home. My husband says he definitely wouldn't have felt so comfortable without you showing him different holds and how to change the diaper and everything. And the holds you showed me for breast feeding helped me feel confident when I first tried, and we were able to establish a latch right away.

What I found most helpful was how you showed us all of our options, not just ones you might personally subscribe to. This made us more prepared for some things that came up through the labour, and since. I'd highly recommend Effie to anyone having a child!

 

Effie was a great teacher! We learned a lot from her before the delivery.  She is very patient and has a lot of experience.

We were a bit nervous at the prospect of being new parents and were not sure  what to expect from the class. As we attended the classes we were very pleased with the atmosphere and the material covered. Effie helped answer our questions and dispel a lot of misinformation that circulates through popular media and secondhand stories. We have since had our baby (a great little boy named Benjamin) and we found that what we learned in class has really helped us through the labour and postpartum periods. We highly recommend this class for new parents and parents who are expecting another child alike.

Effie is a wonderful educator. She put a lot of our first time parent nerves at ease. We would definitely recommend her workshops to any soon to be parents.

At the start of our session with Effie we knew very little about our life ahead and how to plan accordingly. Effie was very patient with us and explained everything. She always takes the time to make sure all of your questions are answered. Thank you for all of the helpful information. We feel much more comfortable now and ready and excited to be parents!

We had our prenatal classes on Oct 15 and 22. Being first time parents, we had no idea what to expect. We even thought that maybe we didn't even need to go to these classes. Boy, we were wrong! Effie did such an amazing amazing job. We learned soooo much. LIterally we felt like everything she taught us are so very useful. She is very knowledgeable in her field and we love that she took the time to answer everyone's questions. We never felt like she rushed through any topics and everything was very clear. Although we know that we can't ever bee 100% prepared for our arrival of our baby, we are more confident now thanks to Effie.

Effie's classes were fantastic! Wiith her wealth of knowledge and experience, she delivered the classes in a fun and informative way. We learned so much, especially the what's what during labour and things that have helped us get through the first week of having baby around. Thank you for the prenatal classes and the hospital tour. It was very informative and the classes were lots of fun. We used the information we learned from you during labour, at the delivery, and also now with our baby.

Our little one was born a couple of weeks ago at Scarborough General in the Jacuzzi (water birth) with the help of 2 midwives. It was an amazing experience and I encourage all expectant mothers to consider it.

The 4 hours with you were educational, encouraging, but most of all empowering. We were well prepared for the birth which occurred less than a week later. We knew what to expect, what we should ask, and techniques for handling the pain (which Janelle did like a champ).

But only after 2 days' training, we are so glad that we are stuffed with almost all necessary informations parents should be aware of before and after the child birth. In fact we know what we are expected to do from day 1!

The prenatal class has a small size so every couple can not only learn but practice with their own hands. Effie is knowledgeable and welcoming. Superb experience for young couples! The tour to Birthmount Hospital is a huge plus.

Before going to your classes (Oct 19 and 26) we were oblivious about labour and delivery or babies in general.  However, after completing our pre-natal course we felt more confident.  Thanks again for teaching us and providing us with so much information that will definitely come in handy when our baby is born this January 2014.     We will definitely keep in touch.
